Reinforcement Games for Therapy

    The majority of my speech kiddos I see for 30 minute therapy sessions. That is about the longest I can hold their attention for and on most days even that can be difficult. I needed something that would help me keep their attention and at the same time keep them working on their therapy goals for the whole 30 minutes.

     Hello! How is Back to School going for you? This year is my 3rd year at the same school, which I'm SO grateful for being able to stay with the same kiddos and watch them grow. As I'm sure you know the first year in a school can be a little crazy as you're starting to learn about each kiddo. This didn't leave me much "extra" time to organize my student files.

    The beginning of the school year is officially in sight. I have to head back to work in 2 weeks!! I better finish up all the things I wanted to accomplish this summer in the next couple of days! ;) I hope you're enjoying the rest of your summer days as well.     By now I'm sure you've heard those two pretty little words 'Common Core'. Oh where to begin! Last year was my first year diving in head first into common core. I spent the whole last year creating therapy lesson plans that would meet the Common Core Standards. Well I'm finally FINALLY done.

      Hello my follow speech paths! How many of you waste time having to look up the common core standards in order to write your long term goals and short term objectives?! That was definitely me constantly looking up the common core standards and then going through them to try and find a goal that would match what a speech path might actually work on. 

Baseline Data Tracking

     Collecting baseline data always makes me feel a little overwhelmed at the beginning of the school year. I know I have to do it though. :) I need to know where each kiddo is at and to document that they have made progress throughout the school year. I started thinking I wanted to make something that was simple to implement. As I'm sure you know how much free time a speech therapist has.

     Who doesn't love coloring?! I remember when I was really little I was riding my bike and I was going down a hill and flipped over my handle bars. I had scarped up my face pretty good so my aunt bought me a coloring book. It was my favorite coloring book and I still have it to this day. :) Do any of your students enjoy coloring or playing card games and have articulation therapy goals?

      Are you getting ready to for when your students get back to school? Okay it might be a little early for some speech paths out there, but I'm feeling rested and excited to get started! Last year was the first year I sent home a weekly homework assignment for each one of my kiddos. I received great feedback from parents so I decided I'd do it again this year!
