All the Common Core Activities you Can Take :)

    By now I'm sure you've heard those two pretty little words 'Common Core'. Oh where to begin! Last year was my first year diving in head first into common core. I spent the whole last year creating therapy lesson plans that would meet the Common Core Standards. Well I'm finally FINALLY done. 
 I'm excited to go into this next school year with everything ready to go and I can just pull out exactly what I need knowing that it meets the common core standards, grade level of my student, and speech goal that they need to work on. Take a sneak peek into my Common Core therapy plans for this coming school year!

K-5th Grade Bundled

     First I started by going through each common core standard by grade level and picked out the goals that focused on what a speech therapist works on a daily basis. Next, I created an activity to work on each of those goals separated out by grade level. I have a bundle for each grade level Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fourth, & Fifth Grade and then I bundled these 5 bundles into one amazing discounted bundle! 

Kindergarten

    Here is what a page from the Kindergarten bundle looks like. This page is the goal Reading Literature RL.K.3 "With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in the story."

     The page includes the Common Core Standard, the CCSS code, directions, and an activity to work on that standard. For this activity the student completed the assignment using the book Little Red Riding Hood. The student identified the characters, the setting, the problem, and the solution. 1st Grade

Language 1.1g Use frequently occurring conjunctions (e.g., and, but, or, so, because). 

     For this activity I have the student connect the two sentences using a conjunction (and, or, but, so, because). Check out an older post I wrote all about the 1st grade common core bundle.

     Reading Literature 2.1: "Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, and how, to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text."

    In this activity the student reads the short story about Veronica the girl who loves to dance and then they answer the wh-questions in complete sentences.     Reading Literature 3.7: "Explain how specific aspects of a text's illustrations contribute to what is conveyed by the words in a story (e.g., create mood, emphasize aspects of a character or setting)."

    In this activity the student reads the short story and then answers questions about the illustration used in the story and how it contributes to telling the story. Click here if you want to take a closer look at the 3rd grade bundle.

4th Grade

      Reading Literature 4.1: "Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text."

     First the student is asked to read the short story. Then they retell what happened in the story by completing the graphic organizer first, second, third, and last. Next the student is asked to infer what might happen if you add salt to boiling water.

    For this activity the student is asked to read the story and determine the meaning of the following words as they are used in the text.
