How to Provide Articulation Therapy Daily
Do you work in the elementary setting? If so, I'm going to guess that the majority of your caseload is Articulation therapy! The thing I hate most is sending my 5th graders off to Middle School as an incoming 6th grader with articulation goals. My personal goal is to graduate as many articulation kiddos as I can before they move onto middle school.

How to Categorize
Hello there! I hope you are having a wonderful day! How to teach categorizing items into groups?! Okay first I needed multiple categories that varied in difficulty levels to fit for my varying levels of students on my caseload. Next I picked out 26 categories to focus on. I love making therapy that is both interactive and fun. My students love to cut and glue, color, and play games. This bundle has it all!

Synonym & Antonym Falling Leaves
My favorite FAVORITE season is Fall! This fall I'm hoping to create more fall therapy lesson plans to get my students excited. I have a couple of students this year on my caseload who are working on synonyms and antonyms and I wanted to make it fall themed. I thought what about leaves? During fall I love to look outside and see beautiful leaves all over the ground!

How to Keep Your Students Working Hard for 30 Minutes
As a speech therapist I work with multiple different disabilities and different levels of abilities. Sometimes I feel like I spend the whole therapy session just trying to control behaviors and to keep everyone working hard and on task for 30 minutes. Have you ever had that session where you look back and ask yourself if anyone learned anything? Okay I know it's not actually that bad, but sometimes that's honestly how I feel.

Keeping Students Engaged in the Lesson
Sometimes I forget what it was like to be a kid and how easily some things could entertain me. Last year I had a student who really struggled to stay with me when it was someone else's turn in the group to provide the answer to the question. I handed him a mini-white board and told him a number after each time it was his turn. He then spent the next student's turn trying to add or subtract two numbers on his white board.

Articulation Game
I spend so much of my day doing articulation therapy that I am always trying to come up with new and different games so that I don't have to play "Go Fish" over and over again! I know it sounds awesome that I get to spend my day playing "Go Fish", but it gets old very quickly when you do it multiple times a day. :D

Desk Reminders for Speech Therapy
As a speech path at the elementary level I am constantly on the go as I have a new group about every 30 minutes. I know it's great for my health, but sometimes I feel like so much time of therapy is wasted walking down the hall so I have created speech therapy desk reminders to help my student remember when it is their speech time. I'm hoping to use this with my older kiddos and maybe some of my responsible younger kiddos. :)

How to Keep a Student's Attention
Most of my therapy sessions are about 30 minutes and for some of my kiddos that 30 minutes can feel much much longer! Last year I implemented using sticker charts. At the beginning of the year I have my students pick out a sticker chart. We discuss what it takes to get to pick out a sticker and add it to their sticker chart at the end of the session. You can individualize the rules per group, based on school

Language Bundle for Back to School
I always start the school year with great intentions. Then comes paperwork, meetings, oh and did I mention paperwork and meetings?! This year I decided to get everything ready to go before school gets started so I don't have to worry about finding time to do my lesson planning at the beginning of the year. I created a language bundle for all of my language students.

Reinforcement Games for Therapy
The majority of my speech kiddos I see for 30 minute therapy sessions. That is about the longest I can hold their attention for and on most days even that can be difficult. I needed something that would help me keep their attention and at the same time keep them working on their therapy goals for the whole 30 minutes.

Student File Organization System
Hello! How is Back to School going for you? This year is my 3rd year at the same school, which I'm SO grateful for being able to stay with the same kiddos and watch them grow. As I'm sure you know the first year in a school can be a little crazy as you're starting to learn about each kiddo. This didn't leave me much "extra" time to organize my student files.

The beginning of the school year is officially in sight. I have to head back to work in 2 weeks!! I got to thinking what am I going to do the first week of school.

Common Core Goal Bank!
Hello my follow speech paths! How many of you waste time having to look up the common core standards in order to write your long term goals and short term objectives?! That was definitely me constantly looking up the common core standards and then going through them to try and find a goal that would match what a speech path might actually work on.

Baseline Data Tracking
Collecting baseline data always makes me feel a little overwhelmed at the beginning of the school year. I know I have to do it though. :) I need to know where each kiddo is at and to document that they have made progress throughout the school year. I started thinking I wanted to make something that was simple to implement. As I'm sure you know how much free time a speech therapist has.

Personalize Your Articulation Deck of Cards
Who doesn't love coloring?! I remember when I was really little I was riding my bike and I was going down a hill and flipped over my handle bars. I had scarped up my face pretty good so my aunt bought me a coloring book. It was my favorite coloring book and I still have it to this day. :) Do any of your students enjoy coloring or playing card games and have articulation therapy goals?

Homework Fun with Speech Therapy
Are you getting ready to for when your students get back to school? Okay it might be a little early for some speech paths out there, but I'm feeling rested and excited to get started! Last year was the first year I sent home a weekly homework assignment for each one of my kiddos. I received great feedback from parents so I decided I'd do it again this year!

Jump into Summer Fun
Can you believe it's already officially summer time! It's amazing how fast time can pass when you're having fun! I decided again this summer to send home summer homework to keep my kiddos thinking about their therapy goals. I didn't want to overwhelm them and wanted to make sure they had plenty of fun this summer so I made sure that it was simple, easy to use, and quick.

Thinking About my Mother :)
With Mother's Day on it's way now that it's officially May I have been thinking about my mom and what to get her to say thanks for being such a great mother to me and my sister. If you've never been inside of the Paper Source store it is a MUST go and see! It has some amazingly cute Mother's Day ideas and crafts that you can create.

Spring Time Fun!
I still can't believe it's already spring! It's also hard to believe because the weather has been so amazingly beautiful you almost get the feeling that it's already summer. This is always the hardest time of year because I feel like summer is so close yet so far when I think about everything I still have left to do! With no breaks in the near future I know my kiddos are going to start to get antsy so I'm going to try to keep them busy and interacting.

Save the Earth One Day at a Time
Last year I realized some of my kiddos had never heard of Earth Day. I think it is such a great idea to share with our kids the daily impact we have on our planet and the tiny steps we can take each day to make the world a better place for us and for all. The other day I bought my dad a wood case for his new iphone (Yes, my dad can use an iphone and text message!).

Jumping into Spring
The rain has finally arrived here in Oregon. Even though I don't love love the rain it is still what makes Oregon the beautiful green that it is! You know that saying, "You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses." The same is true for the rain you can complain because it is raining or you can rejoice because the rain will bring an amazing summer with wonderful colors and flowers!

Happy Day of Easter!
Can you believe it's already April?! Only two and a half more months until it's summer. ;) Now that spring break is over I am planning my therapy for the first week back. This year Easter is crazy early in April! I decided that it would be a fun theme for the week after spring break. Here is a sneak peek into my therapy plans for next week.

Happy Spring Forward
Can you believe it?! It's officially spring forward today! I love this time of year when it starts to stay light out until later in the day. I always feel more productive later in the evening instead of sitting down to watch tv at 5pm because it is pitch dark outside.
In preparation for St. Patrick's Day I'm going to share my St. Patty's all inclusive bundle that covers language, articulation, & social pragmatics.

I'm in LOVE with Arbonne
Yes, I'm in LOVE and no it's not with a person. It's with Arbonne a Swiss, Botanically Based, Vegan, Wellness and Anti-Aging company. Growing up I had acne and it left my face scarred with pigmentation and discolored skin. As an adult I got 2 chemical peels each which cost me $300 and left me in pain with a peeling face for weeks. I couldn't go outside because I was so embarrassed.

The Day of Love
It's almost here the day of love. My boyfriend makes fun of me for being too girly sometimes and I always tell him that I just LOVE LOVE. I am the girl that can watch 4 romantic movies in a day. :) Do you love Valentine's Day? I'm hoping another cute romantic comedy will come out in theaters this Valentine's Day!

Bring on the Mittens!
Okay so I just have to tell you I got these really cute mittens the other day from American Eagle. I was actually suppose to be looking for a birthday present for my friend and then I just had to buy a pair for myself. Have you ever done that?! You're suppose to be buying a gift for someone else and then you end up liking it so much that you buy it for yourself! Oops! I ended up buying my friend and I each a pair.

Baby It's Cold Outside
It's official! Winter is here! As you know speech paths always get the best office space in the school setting. You know the spacious room that is well heated and has plenty of windows. :) Oh wait, that isn't you? Okay, okay all joking aside my office is actually really nice this year. My office is spacious and I have a window! The only bummer is the temperature.

Heroes
Everyone has a hero. You know that person that you look up to and want nothing but to be just like them?! Or at least try to be just like them. ;) Well my hero is actually two people who are very near and dear to my heart. I was blessed 27 years ago to become the youngest daughter of Bruce and Josie. YES, you guessed it my heroes are my parents!
